Everyone look forward to going on a holiday break, but if we are being honest, going back to our regular routine and flow can be challenging.

But everything must come to an end, even our holiday breaks.

Many work-from-home moms and homemakers alike are feeling the pressure of expectations at work, or how we can reorganize and get back into a productive flow. That can be anxiety-triggering.

If you’re struggling to get back into your regular routine and flow of things after a holiday break, here are a few tips that might help you:

Re-establish your morning routine

If you kind of broke from your morning routine during your holiday, start by re-establishing it. That may also mean looking at the usual activities you do in the morning and see if they still resonate with you.

Your morning routine should depend on your goals and intentions. These set of activities must support how you want to experience your life. For me, I want to feel grounded and focused work-wise, so I meditate, move and nourish myself.

Organize your schedule

Your morning schedule might also need re-organization. Look at your priorities again and remind yourself of what really matters so you can schedule your day accordingly.

What worked for me is schedule my work around family activities at home. I also have some focus work time which is when I get into deep work.

You can also use your phone and set up notifications and alarms for these important work.

Prioritize your tasks

Know that you don’t have to do things all at once. There’s enough time for all of your tasks.

Look at your list of tasks and prioritize each based on urgency and importance.

Once you determine which task needs immediate attention, you can start working on it slowly.

Take it one step at a time

Perhaps you have a long list of tasks waiting for you and some may even be urgent enough to make you feel overwhelmed.

Take your time and take it one step at a time. There’s no point in rushing into your flow because there’s no such shortcut to it. You’ll get there. But this time, take it slow.

Give yourself grace

We often get caught in the busy-ness and the exciting thought of being productive, accomplished and worthy that we forget to be kind and compassionate to ourselves.

There is no contest and no price to be won in forcing productivity from you.

So remember to be kind and compassionate with yourself. Listen to your body and take a pause as needed.

I hope this helps you somehow and ease up the pressure of going back to work and your “regular” routine after a long holiday break.
